Originally known as Square Enix Co. Ltd, Square Enix is a video game developer from Japan. It was founded by Yasuhiro Fukushima who is currently an honorary chairman and the largest shareholder. They have created arcade games like Space Invaders and Danus. They have also created the multi-series game Final Fantasy which is one of the most video games launched on multiple platforms. Along with video games, they also have interest in online gaming and manga, the influence of later clearly visible in their Final Fantasy series.
9. Ubisoft (Value $1.85 Billion)
Ubisoft is a major video game publisher which was first formed in 1986 by the five Guillemot brothers. Its headquarters is based in Renne, France. It is the fourth largest publically traded game company in terms of revenue and market capitalisation. They have published games for every gaming platform and are famous for having created the Assassin’s Creed series, Far Cry series, Prince of Persia series and Tom Clancy series.
8. Konami (Value $3.24 Billion)
In 1969 Konami was a jukebox rental company in the city of Osaka, Japan. Today it is the 12th largest video game company in the world. Their headquarters are based in Japan but a secondary location is present in California, the United States from where they conduct their business in the states. They have the world games like the shooter game Contra, survival horror Silent Hill, Castlevania, Pro Evolution soccer and Dance Dance Revolution.
7. Electronic Arts (Value $4.14 Billion)
Electronic Arts is a video game developer founded by Trip Hawkins in 1982 and they established the early computer game industry. Today the company is led by the chairman Larry Probst and the Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson. The company has a subsidiary EA sports which have produced video games on sports like FIFA, NFL, NHL and MMA. Other games Electronic Arts have produced are Crysis, Battlefront, Medal of Honor, Mass Effect and the SIMS series.

Bandai Namco is yet another Japanese video game company which is probably the oldest, first founded in 1955. It was founded by Masaya Nakamura and was originally named Nakamura Manufacturing and today they have their headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. They have given us games based on anime like Naruto, Dragonball Z and Mobile Suit Gundam.

Activision Blizzard is an interactive entertainment company which was formed due to the merger of Vivendi Games and Activision which took place 2008. The company has its headquarters in Santa Monica, California, USA and is in the top three largest video game companies in United States along with Electronic Arts. They also own and operate other development studios like Treyarch and Infinity Ward. They have created some of the biggest games like Call of Duty series, Crash Bandicoot, Guitar Hero, Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft.
4. Sega (Value $4.9 Billion)
These are the geniuses who gave us Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega is a Japanese multinational video game developer and they function out of Tokyo, Japan. It was founded back in the 1960s and was first named Nihon Goraku Bussa. It was founded by Martin Bromley, Irving Bromberg and Richard Stewart. Sega was highly active during the golden era of arcade games producing games like Head On, Monaco GP, Carnival, Turbo, Space Fury and Astro Blaster, the later becoming as famous as Pac-Man.

Nintendo is a Japanese video game developer and consumer company who has their headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. Microsoft, along with being one of the largest computer companies, also has its interests in the gaming industry. The subsidiary came into being in 2002 as Microsoft Game Studios to assist the already launched Xbox.
