Being tall is not something that one has a premeditated idea or goal of. It just happens as one grows and advances into puberty. It is only towards the end of their puberty period, people begin to fear if their growth has stopped and get concerned about their height.

Heather Greene is from Holland and has a height of 6 feet 5 inches. She reached this height at an age of 15 itself and has been so ever since. She made a website called the Heather Haven and started earning money by popularizing her height, where fans can join the website for a certain fee and buy her pictures or learn about her. She has modeled for many advertisements such as The Amazons Arena, TallKat.com and Cassidy Heights.
9. Caroline Welz
She holds the record for being the tallest woman in Germany and is one of the top five tallest women in the world. She grew to 1.5 metres at the age of seven itself, due to which she was subjected to a lot of mockery and insults at school. Consistently being out of place in her life, she wanted her partner to be taller than her. Consequently, she met a man 1.92 metres tall in the High People Internet Forum in 2009. She lives in Cologne and works as a tailor and a model. She also holds a specific interest in trumpet and has played for many musical groups.
8. Gitika Srivastava
She is the tallest woman in India. She measures 6 feet 11 inches and was a former member of the Indian National Women Basketball Team. Despite the discrimination and jeering of everyone around her, she got into Harvard, and successfully completed her MBA in MIT. She then founded Navya Network Inc., one of India’s leading companies that provide healthcare software solutions, and is now its CEO and Director.
7. Zainab Bibi
She is the tallest woman in Pakistan and is the second tallest woman in the world. She then moved to England, where she was recognized as one of the tallest women in the world measuring 7 feet 2 inches. She was a former holder of the ‘Tallest Woman in the World’ title. Due to her seemingly abnormal height, she was a target to open harassments and attacks in her village in Pakistan, due to which she claimed asylum and moved to Britain officially.
6. Sandy Allen
She was the tallest woman in the world until her death in 2008. Measuring 7 feet 7.5 inches tall, she was a Guinness Book record breaker till 1976. She went a surgery, after which she began to use a wheelchair to move, as a result of which her popularity declined rapidly. She then got hospitalized due to a pituitary gland tumour in her brain, and spent bedridden in India, during her last days.
5. Rita Miniva Besa
Originated from Zambia, she currently lives in the United States and measures 6 feet 8 inches. Her height made her one of the prominent members of the USA Basketball Team. Unlike people who become potentially insecure and choose to stay away from media and people fearing harassments and mockery, she chose to use her uniqueness to make her living by fixing her career in Basketball.
4. Malee Duangdee
Malee Duangdee was the second tallest woman in Asia and was the seventh largest woman on the planet. She measured at a height of 6 feet, 4 inches and weighs around 127 kg. She had to concede to her growth as she was diagnosed with a certain kind of a tumour in her pituitary gland that can only be treated with a shrinking medicine, which was apparently too expensive for her family to afford. She even featured in a TLC documentary for the World’s Tallest Children and hoped to expand her fame and popularity to earn for her tumour treatment. She was from Thailand and was the tallest woman in the country. She died in 2016 due to a heart attack, which might have been triggered by her brain tumour.
3. Uljana Semjonova
She was one of the leading Basketball players in the world from the 1980s to 1990s. She measures at 7 feet 1 inches and has the record for having the largest feet ever in Woman’s Basketball. She has won countless laurels and many prestigious awards like Latvian Sports Personality of the Year, Lifetime Contribution to Sports and others. She has won two Olympic Medals in 1976 and 1980. She is the most celebrated personality on the list of the tallest women in the world.
2. Malgorzata Dydek
She was one of the most reputed Polish Basketball players and is the second tallest women in the world. She held a long string of laurels during her career in the WNBA out of which she was particularly applauded for the Most Defensive Rebounds in the season. She then got married to David Twigg, with whom she had two sons who are now nine and seven years old. She died when she was pregnant with her third child due to a heart attack. She was kept in a medically induced coma, and died 8 days later.
1. Yao Defen
Yao Defen was born in a poor town in the Anhui province of China. She weighed 2.8 kg during her birth and was eleven years old when she was 1.8 metres tall. Her condition was called Acromegaly, which was developed due to the presence of a large tumour in the pituitary gland in the brain. At the age of around 40, she suffered from hypertension, heart disease and osteoporosis all arising from acromegaly and breathed her last in 2012.
These women have come out of the narrow perceptions set for them by the society and have shared their gifts to the world. If there is one thing that is common between these women, it is their sheer will to destroy the hardships in their lives and move on with it, which clearly is the reason behind each of their success and story.
